[Preview] iNozbe for the Appstore coming soon to your iPhone

Michael   Thursday, July 31
Comments: 25

I’ve received lots of emails from your asking if there is a possibility of moving our great iNozbe to a higher level and offering not just a web-based iPhone app, but also a native iPhone app.

Native iNozbe coming to your iPhone very soon!

That’s right, we’re currently working hard on a native iPhone application for Nozbe and it should be ready very soon. We’re aiming late August/early September.

Here’s a screenshot of the actual app we’re working on (subject to change as we advance in our development):

Highlights of the native iNozbe:

  • Available in the Apple’s Appstore for free (with the same limits as your current Nozbe account as to the amount of projects/contexts/etc. you can create)
  • Will sync seamlessly with your Nozbe account through your iPhone’s Internet connection (3G, Wifi, etc.)
  • Blazing fast – small file footprint, will use iPhone’s database to store local data

Hope you’re as excited as I am and hope you’re looking forward to it. Make sure to post your feedback/suggestions in the comments below.

As I said, the app is in the early stage of development, but we’re very motivated to pull this off in the shortest time possible. I’ll keep you updated on the developments.

Excellent news.

I use tags extensively to group tasks by client and by area of work. Any chance of tags being available from the main menu?

Can’t wait! The web interface is good but a little slow, so the native interface will be welcome.

I hope it will also be able to work in offline mode. Sometimes you have ideas on the plane, in a hole, etc., and it’d be nice to log them in one place instead of e.g. the notebook app.

Keep up the terrific work!

iPhone App plus Web2.0 made by Nozbe will be definitely superior and predominant in comparison to iPhone App plus Mac App made by Omnifocus. Nothing will beat Nozbe @ iPhone

I am always amazed at how Nozbe keeps getting easier and easier to use. I have never seen a service that has such a desire to meet or exceed customer expectations. I knew something was up with Michael since the blog had remained dormant for several days.

I would be happy to participate in beta testing if needed.

Thanks Michael!

Great news! Can’t wait. Another Beta tester available here as well. Tried Omnifocus….WAY too heavy and complex for me. This is the only missing piece of Nozbe I needed. Thanks Michael!

This will be so awesome, can’t wait to get it.

Nozbe RULEZ!!! :-)

Excellent! I was currently just wavering between nozbe and vitalist. It seems this is coming for vitalist too, but not for a long time. Congratulations, you just sealed the deal with me! =)

One more reason why it looks like our team is going to totally convert to Nozbe. THX

Thanks Michael, this is exciting, and I definitely agree with Wayne that there are very few (read none) software developers that give us new features as often as Nozbe. Reminds me of a bigone era when WordPerfect was owned by SSI and it kept getting better year after year because they listened and implemented what their customers asked for. I would also be happy to be a 3G Beta Tester and also put in my request to see inactive projects and also completed tasks in the native app like we can in Nozbe. Thanks for all your hard work, John.

:-)

I’m looking forward to the native iPhone app too! Offline mode is definitely something I see as an advantage in a version of Nozbe for iPhone.

How are you finding development using the iPhone SDK? Does it require a lot of specialized programming knowledge? Are you happy with the tools?

Thank-you for all the extra work!

:-)
Michael 6 Aug 08 16:17

Thanks guys for your comments and don’t stop them from coming! We’re really excited about this iPhone development. It’s not all that easy with the iPhone SDK (I personally don’t find the Objective-C language so nice…) but we’re working hard.

:-)

One more native iPhone feature request. I would like to be able to email my actions from a project like we can do in Nozbe in the native app. And if you can tie it into the contact list so we can just select an address, as other apps are doing, that would be so convenient, no typing a long email address. Thanks, John

Ken 19 Aug 08 19:15

Excited about this, and thanks Michael for the way Nozbe keeps getting better! I’m hoping the native app will work on iPod Touch with wifi.

Add voice recording to this. I see that there are several voice recorders on the iPhone app store, but it would be nice to have it without Nozbe. With a mobile app, I am often driving my car or doing something else where typing is difficult. The ability to empty my mind into a voice recorder for later entry into Nozbe would make for the perfect mobile GTD app.

:-)
G 23 Aug 08 14:28

On voice recording – use JOTT – you have it on a speed dial, dictate a task or idea, and have it sent hands free (and free) directly to Nozbe.

:-)
Steven 27 Aug 08 15:17

Great news concerning the iPhone app! I can’t wait to test it :-)

Ulrich 28 Aug 08 18:37

We’re aiming late August/early September

Charlie Rosenbury 28 Aug 08 23:10

Thanks for the update, Ulrich. I’ve been checking the blog compulsively waiting for its release announcement.

:-)
James Titus 30 Aug 08 21:50

This is awesome, can’t wait! This will seal the deal over vitalist for sure. Let me know if you need another tester!

Please make sure you retain the ability to reorder all of the lists. Omnifocus generates automatic lists of things in contexts or timeframes that can’t be reordered. They call them smartlists. The re-orderable next steps list is so very helpful – it is the reason I’m coming back from Omnifocus. Also – please resist the temptation to put in all of the complex features that people ask for. The genius of your product is that it is simple. I’ve been looking for simple for some time. Got an Iphone and drifted away because the iPhone nozbe can’t reorder lists either (if it can please tell me how). Thanks for all your hard work.

:-)
Jeremy Boccabello 13 Dec 08 02:14

PS will be glad to test.

:-)
Chipper 15 Dec 08 22:31

When, in the name of Sam Hill, is this app coming to the iTunes store?

:-)
Dave 21 Jan 09 06:10

Yeah, my thoughts exactly! Are you guys giving up on this app? MAKE IT HAPPEN!

GET ‘ER DONE!

I was interested in your offering as I love your green graphic scheme, etc., but if you don’t follow through, what does that say about your ability to use you’re own TODO list? lol. Sad.

I’ll check back once more in 30 days. If not online I’ll not bother with you guys.
